I believe that we...

I believe that we will win.

You Get A Yellow! You Get a Yellow! Everybody Gets A Yellow!

You Get A Yellow! You Get a Yellow! Everybody Gets A Yellow!

After being in clear control throughout the first half, and leading 1-0, it took less than a minute to change the game. DeAndre Yedlin would earn two yellow cards in 45 seconds and be sent off the pitch leaving the US down a man three minutes into the second half. With that, the Americans struggled to get back in control, and an entirely new match began.

The ref would add a little more excitement to the physical fast-paced game (beyond his copious cardings) when he stopped play in the 67th minute with a calf cramp. Midfielder Michael Bradley, who earned a yellow for dissent just moments earlier, stood in obvious disbelief as the medical team began to massage the ailing official. A chorus of boos could be heard from the crowd as he was treated on the field for several minutes before re-starting the match.

The game resumed with another round of yellows, one going to a fuming Bobby Wood who had been the target of several fouls. With Klinsmann pumping up the crowd from the sidelines, the USA warded off the rejuvenated Paraguay, who poked at the back-line in search of weak spots. Paraguay couldn't get past Brad Guzan and John Brooks, who held down the defense and took away chances like Hungry Hippos gobbling up all the marbles. With six minutes of stoppage time, the two teams kept up the calf-cramping pace, but the score would keep.

In an after game interview Guzan talked about the gravity of the game, saying, "It's huge. It showed our will to grind out a result and just battle. All the credit goes to the guys in front of me." When asked about his own performance, he said simply, "Every now and then its the job of the goalkeeper to come up with the save and I was lucky enough to do that tonight."

The US will advance to the Quarterfinals, which start this Thursday. The time and date will all depend on Colombia and Costa Rica who are currently playing. Costa Rica leading 2-1.
